Project Description
The Colonial Theatre is located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania at 227 Bridge Street. Built in 1903, became a preeminent venue for movies, traveling shows, and live entertainment. The restoration of the historic theater began with code-compliant fire safety issues and a 1950’s facade adaptation and marquee restoration. Improvements included a handicap accessible restroom, elevator and carpet replacement.
Auditorium and balcony seat replacement and new carpeting brought the theater back to its original glory. Additional, creation of offices & meeting rooms, and most recently the addition of a multi-functional viewing/party room.
The Colonial Theatre’s Bank on the Arts Building Expansion Project has been selected to receive a 2018 Preservation Achievement Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.
